Typically when we discuss the wages vs gift problem in Romans 4, the focus is on how we don’t deserve heaven and have earned hell, but as we look at the reward of Abraham in Genesis 15 we see a completely different point of reference altogether that tells us of a greater reward than heaven, and a better hope than forgiveness alone; making transformation something better and bigger than avoiding bad behavior.
