Endless Possibilities: Why would God choose me?
The word Genesis literally means the beginning, not because it is the first book of the Bible, but because it begins with the words, “In the beginning God,” thus setting the stage for everything that comes after it. Everything begins and ends with God. It is the point of reference that helps us to understand the world and our our place in it. And it is also the hardest truth for us to get our heads around. By the time we get to the end of the Genesis, we have traversed more than 2,000 years of human history, and all we did was get out of the first book, and we have just begun the story of God’s work in human history, helping us to see that we in fact are not the center of the universe, and yet we are called to be a very special part of it.
